Book Review | The Future for Curious People by Gregory Sherl

Set in the near future, The Future for Curious People relates the story of Evelyn and Godfrey who fall in love. While this may sound like just another love story, it’s actually a bit unique in that these two characters find each other by visiting a doctor who specializes in foretelling romantic futures. It takes meeting Evelyn for Godfrey to realize that his marriage proposal to Madge is not the path he should be heading down. As his semi-engagement and relationship plunge into turmoil, Godfrey can’t help but throw everything he has at Evelyn and hope it will be enough.

Sherl has captured the modern spirit of love and dysfunctional relationships. This book is completely relevant at a time when people are putting themselves out there to try to discover and capture lasting love. The main characters are developed enough to be understood and seem real. The story is inviting from the beginning and reads clearly the whole way through. I recommend this novel to anyone struggling in a difficult relationship or going through a period of confusion in their romantic endeavors. Check it out from a library near you.
